DAYS two to FOUR

Trace the Northern Capitals

Begin the day toward Rabat, where the Royal Palace and the Kasbah of the Udayas rise above the Bouregreg River, offering a refined introduction to Morocco’s dynastic history. Travel east to Meknes and pause at the monumental Bab Mansour Gate, its symmetry and scale reflecting the ambition of Sultan Moulay Ismail.

Arrive in Fes, your base for the next three nights. The next day is devoted to Fes el-Bali, a medina shaped by scholarship and craft. Enter through Bab Boujloud, wander through Bou Inania Medersa and Nejjarine Square, pass the Kairaouine Mosque and the ceramics quarter where artisans still throw, glaze and fire by hand. Your final day turns to taste with an immersive culinary exploration. Begin with a market tour, gathering herbs, spices and produce; then join a cooking class that reveals the architecture of Fassi cuisine.

At dawn, the Sahara glows. Then cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, rising through switchbacks, descending into olive groves and finally reaching the plains of Marrakesh.
